Is it possible to get a beta invite for the new vista build for a MCP (Windows XP) before the public beta is released?
I donÂīt understand why the MCPs are not involved in the beta programs for the according products...
It seems that invites are given away by a somewhat random method (http://blogs.msdn.com/scarbones_blog/default.aspx)...

Well, I am afraid you have exhausted all available avenues at the moment, its best you wait until the CTP becomes available to the Public, which should be in April or May. Also, continue watchin that site you posted a link to, you never know, more opportunities for invites might pop up there. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Well, it's probably way too late to try getting in on the Vista beta program, now. But, for future products:

IÂīve already registered @connect.microsoft.com, which is what your link does say, but I wasnÂīt selected.
And, itÂīs absolutely not too late to get on the Vista Beta Program. Some people, who posted at http://blogs.msdn.com/scarbones_blog/default.aspx were accepted into the beta within the last 3 days.
ItÂīs just frustrating to be a Windows XP MCP and see people, who have no certification at all being accepted into the beta program while MCPs who are waiting for the beta invite are not invited...

What does certification have to do with anything? MS might want feedback from non-technical users since they will be the biggest market.

Your certification does not guarantee you entrance into any Microsoft BETA Programs, its usually dependent on past testing experiences, hardware configuration. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Apply for Betas that interest you. Make yourself known with quality participation. Then when a Beta you really want comes around, you will have a far better chance of being accepted. Waiting for Vista Beta as it seems many have done is a good way to miss the Beta. Work and plan in advance for the next big Beta.
MCP does not guarantee Beta testing and there is nothing that suggests as much. If there were, the Vista Beta may double in size just to accommodate the MCPs. I think part of the plan is to get a wide variety of experience in a Beta. That is one reason you see many with no certifications, but don't forget their experiences. If you got a good look at the demographic, I expect we would so a wide variety. For obvious reasons they would all have some computer experience necessitated by the need to reinstall periodically, search for and install drivers etc.
